Delay DTV? Please, NO!
President Elect Barack Obama has asked Congress to delay the February 17th switch to digital television because the government coupons for converter boxes have run dry. Apparently, going ahead with the switch would "leave millions in the dark." In 2009, I just find it hard to believe that "millions" of Americans still watching big clunky TV's with rabbit ears. If this is true, then I am more out of touch than I realize. I mean, I voted for Obama, but I have to disagree with this move. What if the government hadn't offered coupons at all! Then what? The government dropped $1.34 billion as a way to try to assist some of our neighbors in need. Come on, this transition to digital has been delayed already for years and I'm sick of the promos reminding me "just 48 more days to digital...just 47 more days to digital...just 46 more days." It's not like we didn't know this was coming America.
